Call for Abstracts: Papers, Posters, Lightning Talks

The Program Committee is now accepting submissions for contributed papers, posters, and lightning talks for the SC/MLA Annual Meeting, to be held September 23–26, 2026, in Birmingham, Alabama.

This year’s theme, “Strike While the Iron is Hot: Forging Ideas, Connections, and Community,” encourages us to share ideas, strengthen partnerships, and support one another in the evolving landscape of medical librarianship and health information services. Whether reconnecting with colleagues or building new relationships, attendees will benefit from the exchange of practical insights and collaborative learning.

Presentation Formats

Not sure which format fits your work?

  • Papers: More in-depth, formal presentations.
  • Posters: Visual presentations that highlight research or projects, allowing for informal, one-on-one discussion with attendees.
  • Lightning Talks: Brief, focused presentations centered on a single key idea.

Students and New Professionals

We strongly encourage submissions from current MLIS students and recent graduates. This is an excellent opportunity to share your work in a supportive and collegial environment. We will be hosting abstract writing workshops on June 25 and July 8 for those who would like support and feedback.
