Welcome to the 72nd Annual Meeting of the Southern Chapter of the Medical Library Association! I know we’re all excited to see our friends and colleagues again and have our first in-person meeting since 2019.

The Program and LAC Committees have planned a wonderful meeting with excellent CEs, thoughtful papers and posters from our colleagues, and additional fun, social activities. You’ll have a chance to engage and connect with others, promote your work and health science librarianship, and learn more about our organization.

I encourage you all to take this time to get informed through content, energized by the environment and people, and think about getting involved in the Southern Chapter.

We are so excited to reconnect with everyone at the SC/MLA Annual Meeting this fall! We offered two successful virtual meetings in 2020 and 2021, but are thrilled to finally be planning an in-person meeting and hope to see everyone’s smiling faces in Montgomery.

The theme of this year’s meeting is, “Health Information Matters: Embrace, Explore, Evolve.” The past few years have illustrated the importance of trustworthy health information, as well as the dangers of misinformation and disinformation. We have learned to embrace change, explore new ways of evaluating and disseminating information, and evolve our thoughts and actions.

The Program Committee has worked tirelessly to plan an engaging annual meeting. We encourage you to learn from speakers and presenters, engage in panel discussions, share ideas during a round table lunch, mingle with vendors, network during every session, and eat and dance at the banquet. And remember to visit the many historical/cultural landmarks -- and taste the delicious food -- that Montgomery has to offer!
