AHIP Scholarship

To support members in their professional development, SC/MLA has established the AHIP Scholarship. SC/MLA will reimburse the AHIP application fee at the MLA member rate for successful first-time applicants and those renewing at a higher level. SC/MLA will fund up to five awards per calendar year. Awards will be granted on a first-come, first-served basis until funds are exhausted.

Criteria for the award:

Applicant must:

• Be a current SC/MLA member
• Submit a successful application to the Academy of Health Information Professionals for the first time or for renewing at a higher level 
• Be accepted into the Academy or renew at higher level no more than 6 months prior to request for reimbursement
• Individually cover the cost of AHIP application fees and not be reimbursed by their employer
  

Procedure for award:

Email the current SC/MLA Credentialing Liaison and provide the following:

• Your full name and contact information
• Proof of individual personal payment of the application fee
• First-time applicants: A copy of your letter of acceptance into the Academy of Health Information Professionals (dated no more than six months prior to reimbursement request)
• Renewing applicants: Evidence of successful AHIP renewal at a higher level (dated no more than six months prior to reimbursement request)
  

The SCMLA Credentialing Liaison will reply to acknowledge receipt of your request and to let you know whether any funds are currently available. If so, the liaison will notify the SC/MLA Treasurer, who will issue you a check for the application fee at the MLA member rate.

Deadline: Applications are accepted year-round as long as funds are available.
